Hank Williams was one of my Strongest Influences in Music. I play many of his songs as Guitar Instrumentals and the Audience always loves them.

Hank Williams was the most popular Country Music Singer and Songwriter to ever live. His gift for writing Songs was to the Genius Level. He was a Charismatic Singer. When he sang on stage he often moved people to tears.

Hank Williams was a child prodigy. At age 14 he had his own radio show in Alabama and was making personal appearances locally. Hank Went on to be on the Louisiana Hayride, a place where unknowns could get public exposure. In the mid to late 40s, the Hayride was where many Country Music Stars got their start. Even Elvis Presley started out on the Hayride, as did Slim Whitman, George Jones and Johnny Cash. All these Country Music Singers who would someday be giants in Nashville, were unknowns when they first appeared on the Louisiana Hayride. All you had to have was talent to get on the Hayride. To be on the Grand Ole Opry, you had to be an established singer who had been signed and recorded by a Record Label.

Hank Came to Nashville in 1946 but did not get on the Grand Ole Opry until 1949, after he had made Records for the MGM Record Label. His Recording of "Lovesick Blues" made him a Superstar in Country Music. Oddly enough Hank Williams did not write "Lovesick Blues." But after "Lovesick Blues" catapulted him to fame, the songs he wrote were all big hits selling millions of records.

List of 25 of Hank Williams CDs at the end of this Article

Hank only lived to enjoy his popularity for four years, then he passed on to the next world. But his legend and the songs he wrote lived on after he died on January first 1953. The Songs he wrote have been recorded by Singing Stars every year after his death. Even today, over 45 years later, you will hear the songs Hank Williams wrote being played on the Radio.

Hank Williams was from a poor family in Alabama. He had known poverty to a high level. Through his singing and songwriting he became extremely rich.

Like most rural Americans at the time Hank Williams lived, he moved from the Farm to the City. His songs were about heartbreaking love. However some of his songs were about the fun things in life. The songs that he wrote expressed feelings that most everyone could identify with.

Hank led a turbulent life. From all that I have read he had a very strong and big ego. Only a person with a strong and large ego could accomplish what Hank Williams accomplished in the world of music.

Hank must have had a sensitivity that the ordinary person does not possess. His look at life was such that he could write about things that everyone could identify with. His music has given millions of people great enjoyment.

It is well known that Hank Was a heavy drinker. Over 40 years after his death, TV Documentaries are still made about his life. On one TV documentary, some of the people who knew him well said that he was also heavy into drugs, drugs that kill pain. When Hank had a back injury he was given a drug that he became addicted to.

The cause of his death was never fully revealed. Many thought that a drug overdose is what killed him on that fateful day of January 1 1953. If this happened, if he did die of a drug overdose, it would not be the first time that a person who makes their living as a very successful musician died in this manner. For some reason musicians tend to be strongly attracted to Drugs. This is most unfortunate since it often either kills them or wrecks their life.

Musicians seem to not have trouble getting whatever kind of Drug they want to take, or are addicted to. Most assuredly there have been many talented musicians who have been addicted to drugs, and Drugs have killed many of the most talented Musicians in our time period. It seems that the more creative a musical personality is, the more they seem to want to use drugs.

Though Hank was a Country Boy who sang Country Music, his songs have been recorded by the Pop Singers of his time, and later by the Rock Singers. Hank's Generation Loved his songs, and all the Generations after Hank Passed on have loved his songs. I doubt that the songs of Hank Williams will ever die for they are timeless.

Making a Living in Music -- Spotlighting Bobby Ward

I have written a very long and in depth article on Hank Williams . I tend to write in depth when someone is worth writing about, and Hank Williams is someone you can write much about. Many full length books have been written on Hank Williams.

I started playing guitar at 18. When my Father brought home a cheap Sears Guitar, I got my hands on it and could not let go. By age 19, I was playing professionally in combos, three piece bands, and four piece bands. I played full time professional for 8 years, no day job. I played part time professional for 12 more years. For 20 years, I was totally devoted to music.

I played the Country Honky Tonks with some pretty good bands. Lead Guitar and Bass, were my instruments, mostly Lead Guitar. We played Country and Rock. I ran my own trio, Guitar, Bass, Drums, and I sang. Then I did solo gigs, me and a drum machine. Later I did solo finger style Guitar, in fine dinning restaurants.

Though I have recorded my music since I was about 22 years old, and I recorded other bands for money, I started recording myself seriously when I got a computer program that permitted Digital Recordings.

I Recorded in Nashville as a vocalists, but never made it big, so I decided to do what I do best, which is play Guitar and Dobro. While I was in Nashville, a long time ago, I seen and heard Uncle Josh Graves Play Slide Dobro as backup for Mac Wiseman. I then taught myself to play Square Neck, Slide Dobro. I do love the Resonator Guitar, the Dobro.

I listened to and seen the greatest of Guitar Players in my life time, seeing many of the Greats in person. I learned from all types of guitarists, for I was never confined to one type of music. I listened to Country, BeBop Jazz, Blues, New Age, and Experimental Guitarists, loving them all.

My music has the influences of many Genres, and Guitar players, but I imitate no one. My Guitar Playing is my Guitar Playing. I hope you enjoy my Recordings.

I'm also a Writer, as well as a Musician. I wrote radio advertising and public relations as a professional. I also write essays, poetry, and short stories.
